Special Needs Ministry was created to support, serve, and affirm individuals with disabilities and their families by advocating and promoting inclusion, building genuine friendships, and connecting families with existing services in Kalamazoo.

We’re excited to offer unique programs like RISE Together, a welcoming space for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to experience a supportive, loving community centered around building friendships, growing in faith, and enjoying delicious food.
RISE Together is offered in 7- to 8-week sessions four times a year. Our Spring series, RISE Together: New Beginnings, starts April 16 and runs through June 4, 2025. Join us on Wednesdays from 4-7 PM for dinner and fun activities! Attendance is free, but registration is required for all participants.

Friendship Groups
Friendship Groups are integrated gatherings that occur weekly. Through Friendship Groups, our desire is to meet the #1 need in Kalamazoo: building genuine friendships. Friendship Groups operate through volunteers and donations, so barriers that typically prevent friendships are not present. This allows connections to grow week after week, both in our building as well as outside the walls of The Point Community Center.

Our Friendships Groups happen weekly on Wednesdays from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm.
